Jasper is as sweet as always and we can barely keep him from running all of his calories off before noon! He loves to be outside more than anything and doesn't seem like he wants to be inside unless it is too cold or a downpour. He likes to hang out in the northwest corner of the yard and keep his eyes on the horizon for anything of interest....4 wheeler, car, tractor, people. He LOVES to give a bark or two just to let them know he's there ;) Although, he settles down rather quickly which is a good thing. Jasper has definately become a little lover as he rolls on his back and curls right up to you if you let him on the couch or bed. He listens very well and knows where he SHOULD and SHOULD NOT be.
Like I have said before, Jasper is an awesome little trooper that gets along fine with other dogs but definately likes to be independent most of the time. He likes treats and loves to get petted and hugged...but WATCH OUT...he has places to go, things to sniff, and the yard to guard!

In the Swing of Things
Jazzy has made a lot of improvement over last several months and overcome being ill, nervous and scared, and has turned into a confident pup companion that loves attention. When he first came to us you couldn't pick him up to give him a hug and didn't want to be handled. Now, he sits on your lap and lays down long enough to rest his eyes. Now THAT'S an accomplishment!
Jazzy (Jasper) has come a long way since we took him into foster last spring. He had never been in a house before & at the beginning was afraid of even the simple things like ceiling fans, microwave beeps, cell phone rings. Now he's gotten into the swing of things & he's potty trained & we rarely crate him. During the day, we are able to leave him uncrated in the house with 3 other dogs. Jazzy is very enthusiastic about meal times, he gets really excited but we've been able to teach him to "sit" before he gets his bowl. Jazzy would like to spend all day outside if we let him - in the summer he enjoyed lounging in the grass, in the shade of a tree just watching the world go by. He also loves running around the yard & fetching pretty much anything you can throw for him - but sometimes he's so excited to be outside that he'll do a few laps around the yard before bringing the toy back so you can throw it again. When it's time for bed, he's usually one of the first dogs (of the 6 we have) to claim a dog pillow to sleep on. He will even let Rachie (our other IL birddog rescue foster pointer) share his pillow if she wasn't fast enough to get her own. He's a medium sized pointer & very muscular, he weighs 45-50 lbs. He does walk well on the IBR rope harness leash. If you enjoy the outdoors & are looking for a dog to share it with then Jazzy might be a good match for you. We are fostering Jasper & Rachel near Des Moines, IA but are willing to bring them to IL or a neighboring state if you would like to meet them.

POSSESSION OF THE BONE IS KEY
We have some video of Jasper playing with the other foster dogs. He plays very well with other dogs once he gets introduced and gets to know them. He has the bone in the beginning of the video and is playing wiht Rachel Ray.

Settled in and loving it!
Jasper has certainly come "into his own" and has settled down quite a bit after being in Iowa for a couple months. Jasper still has his favorite Kuzball but has certainly mellowed out and is more laid back in every way. He has done very well with the daily routine and it turns out that his favorite thing to do is lay in the yard and sniff the wind with his eyes barely open and his eyes rolled back in his head....VERY CUTE!
He has had a new playmate in Rachel and loves to wrestle around with her on the lawn and chase her round and round the yard. Jasper is not even close to timid anymore and runs up to us for some rubbing, hugging, and petting. He still has some work to do on commands but he sure knows his name now....given a few weeks and a lot of treats. Jasper will make someone a great companion. If you like a dog that is "his own little dude" but needs some attention and love in the interim...this is the dog.

New Kid On The Block
HI! I'm Jasper and I just came to IBR. I'm staying with a family in Iowa. Still trying to learn the "to do" list and mom and dad hope I learn the "don't" list first.
They say, I'm a BUNDLE of energy and like running in the fenced in acre in back of the house non stop as a matter of fact. He is enjoying the wet food and deer burger every day which should give him some additional weight given a couple weeks. He is getting along well with our three other dogs in the house and especially outside of the house. Our dogs are beginning to accept him more and more. The occasionally give each other a little growl when he has one of their favorite toys. Jasper has found a small orange kuzball that is a small rubber squeaker with two little rubber legs on the bottom. He simply LOVES that toy which is great since it keeps him entertained for a couple of hours at a time. He literally squeaks it for three hours straight. I think he will really make a family happy once he gets over a few hurdles.
I may be the new kid on the block, but it doesn't take me long to figure out the good life!
