In the Swing of Things

Jazzy has made a lot of improvement over last several months and overcome being ill, nervous and scared, and has turned into a confident pup companion that loves attention. When he first came to us you couldn't pick him up to give him a hug and didn't want to be handled. Now, he sits on your lap and lays down long enough to rest his eyes. Now THAT'S an accomplishment!

Jazzy (Jasper) has come a long way since we took him into foster last spring. He had never been in a house before & at the beginning was afraid of even the simple things like ceiling fans, microwave beeps, cell phone rings. Now he's gotten into the swing of things & he's potty trained & we rarely crate him. During the day, we are able to leave him uncrated in the house with 3 other dogs. Jazzy is very enthusiastic about meal times, he gets really excited but we've been able to teach him to "sit" before he gets his bowl. Jazzy would like to spend all day outside if we let him - in the summer he enjoyed lounging in the grass, in the shade of a tree just watching the world go by. He also loves running around the yard & fetching pretty much anything you can throw for him - but sometimes he's so excited to be outside that he'll do a few laps around the yard before bringing the toy back so you can throw it again. When it's time for bed, he's usually one of the first dogs (of the 6 we have) to claim a dog pillow to sleep on. He will even let Rachie (our other IL birddog rescue foster pointer) share his pillow if she wasn't fast enough to get her own. He's a medium sized pointer & very muscular, he weighs 45-50 lbs. He does walk well on the IBR rope harness leash. If you enjoy the outdoors & are looking for a dog to share it with then Jazzy might be a good match for you. We are fostering Jasper & Rachel near Des Moines, IA but are willing to bring them to IL or a neighboring state if you would like to meet them.
